Ford India launches a 2-Wheel Drive variant for Endeavour


Ford India, recently launched a 2-Wheel Drive variant of the 3.0-litre automatic model of Ford Endeavour. Available at a price of Rs. 17.89 lakh, the new Ford Endeavour 4x2 AT is around Rs. 1.15 lakh cheaper than the 4x4 variant. The SUV has a powerful engine which can deliver a maximum power of 153.8bhp and a healthy 38.77kgm of torque. It is paired with a 5-speed automatic gearbox coupled with an overdrive switch on the shift lever for overtaking manoeuvres.
The new Endeavour 4x2 inherits its exterior styling from the 4x4 variant, but the interior design now includes 2-tone colour scheme, 6-CD changer music system, dual air-conditioner with vents for the second and third row seats, leather seats, a DVD player, illuminated scuff plates, a titanium-finished instruments panel, sporty pedals and stylish body cladding.



Other main features of Ford Endeavour 4x2 AT are dual-stage front airbags for driver and passenger, ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution), Tilt Adjustable Steering and Power Windows.

Maruti-Suzuki Launched Limited Edition Swift In India


No.1 car manufacturer in India, Maruti-Suzuki has launched a limited-edition of the Maruti-Suzuki Swift, their premium small car brand. The new limited "Swift One Million Edition" comes in a specially created "Goldsmith Black" colour and features like 'new graphics, special integrated stereo with USB and speakers, luxurious leather seats, cushions, foot mats and an artistic decal on the exteriors' are available in it.
The new limited-edition swift celebrates Maruti-Suzuki's achievement of selling 1-million cars a year, accomplished in late March. The one millionth car that was sold out from the company's Manesar plant was a Swift. According to Maruti-Suzuki, 'The interiors of the Swift One Million Edition have aesthetics of a commemorative edition'.

Volkswagen Launched New Polo With Power-boost In India


Volkswagen India recently launched a 1.6-litre Volkswagen Polo which adds to its existing line-up powered by the 1.2-litre engine. The new hatchback with enhanced power will be available as a Highline petrol variant at Rs.6.16 lakh (ex-showroom price, Delhi).

Engine & Transmission
The new 1.6-litre Polo is powered by a 4-cylinder petrol engine developing a power of 105bhp @ 5250rpm and a torque of 15.6kgm @ 3750rpm. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox and Volkswagen claims a fuel economy of 15.96kmpl.

Exterior
The new Volkswagen Polo features body-coloured bumpers, chrome strip in front grille, body-coloured outside door handles and mirrors, galvanized body with six-year anti-corrosion warranty and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Interior

Fine-Tuned Toyota Etios To Be Lauched By The End Of 2010


Toyota India, plans to launch an improved version of Toyota Etios by the end of 2010. The improved Toyota Etios which is in the final stages of fine-tuning, is expected to be launched in 'December,2010'.
The Etios is the Japanese company's important car for India and Toyota has spent much effort to ensure that it meets the demands of the local environment. The harsh road conditions in India have forced Toyota to raise the suspension by approximately 20mm for better ground clearance. Another unique feature of the Indian model of Toyota Etios is a special under-body plate to protect the brake and fuel lines against stones.

Be lighter, Save Fuel!!!!!
The manufacturers have given priority to Etios' fuel economy also. The key to the fuel efficiency of Etios is its low weight. Both the sedan and hatchback versions of Etios promise to be the lightest cars in their class and the company revealed the hatchback's weight of 890kg. This makes new Toyota Etios 30kg lighter than the current lightweight champ, Nissan Micra.

Engine
The Toyota Etios Sedan is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder twin-cam 16-valve motor developing around 95bhp while the Etios hatchback is powered by a smaller 1.2-litre engine developing 68bhp. Though the power output of the engines seems to be quite low, given the lightweight of the cars, performance promises to be above average for the class.
The diesel Etios is powered by the same 87bhp 1.4-litre engine as in the Corolla Altis but in a significantly smaller and lighter car, performance should again be more than adequate.



Comfort & Interiors
Toyota has given top priority to comfort as well. The suspension set-up is on the softer side and the bushes have been optimized to give the right amount of compliance for a smooth ride.
The wheelbase of Sedan model of Etios is 2550mm where as that of hatchback Etios is 2460mm. This gives new Etios exceptional interior space and it is likely to be the most spacious car in its class.

Variants
Toyota plans to launch four trim levels of the Etios. The basic version will be significantly stripped down and though air conditioning will be standard, there will be no power steering. The top-end model has all the features including 15-inch alloys. Surprisingly, Toyota is not offering electrically operated side mirrors for any variant, which is now common in other cars in the same class like Hyundai i10. ABS and airbags are standard for the top three models and a great facility is that even in the base model, these safety features are optionally available.

Price
Toyota keeps silence about the price of new Etios, but the price is expected to come in the lower end of the premium hatchback spectrum. Thus, the new Toyota Etios won't be as costly as the Honda Jazz or Volkswagen Polo, but will likely come in the price range of Nissan Micra and Maruti-Suzuki Swift. The price of the sedan version is expected to be in the range of that of Maruti-Suzuki Dzire.

The Toyota Etios Sedan is expected to be launched in December 2010 where as the hatchback version is expected to touch the roads in March, 2011.

Cara Ganti Mika/Kaca Helm di Musim Hujan

Mungkin anda punya helm yang mika/kacanya sudah usang? Cepat-cepatlah menggantinya. Pasalnya, mika helm yang buram sangat berbahaya bagi pengendara maupun orang lain di jalan raya.

Saya pernah tertabrak teman dari belakang hanya karena mika helm yang digunakan buruk. Saat itu sekitar pukul 10 malam, kami berdua beriringan dengan Suzuki FXR. Saya di depan dan sobat saya di belakang. Akibat mika helm yang berwarna hitam dan mulai buram (dan baret), ia kaget ketika saya melakukan pengereman di depannya.

Motornya menghantam ban belakang motor saya dan kami berdua pun terjatuh. Fairing, spion, tuas perseneling, dan tangki motornya rusak. Syukur, motor saya hanya menderita patah handle kopling. Hitung-hitung ia harus keluar ekstra perbaikan 2-jutaan.

Mengganti mika helm gampang dan murah. Anda cukup mendatangi penjual mika helm. Tinggal pilih dan minta pasang sekalian. Di pasaran banyak pilihan yang beredar. Baik dari segi warna, model, dan tentu saja harga dan kualitas. Bagi anda di musim hujan ini pilih saja yang cocok dengan kondisi saat ini sebagaimana berikut:

  • Pertama-tama, pilih mika bening. Toh pada siang hari sinar matahari jauh lebih 11.jpgredup di banding saat musim kemarau. Jadi tidak butuh mika model kaca film warna-warni (rainbow). Juga tidak butuh mika warna gelap/hitam. Malah saat hujan, justru anda sangat membutuhkan mika bening agar pandangan tetap terang.
  • Soal model, akan banyak anda temukan di pasaran. Pilih saja yang sesuai dengan model yang dipakai helm anda. Untuk itu baiknya membeli dengan membawa contoh mika, atau sekalian membawa helmnya. Beberapa jenis helm di pasaran untuk tipe sport/fullface menggunakan sistem klip pada pemegang mika di kiri kanan. Untuk melepas dan memasang kembali mikanya, cukup dengan menekan tuas klip di balik mika. Ini dapat anda temukan pada model INK/AGV lokal atau merek-merek lain sejenis. Beberapa helm yang lebih mahal menggunakan klem dan klip. Pada helm Vemar Italia ini Anda harus mencungkil klem pengamannya guna melepaskan klip di yang justru terletak 21.jpgdi atas mika.
  • Harga!!! Tipikal orang Indonesia banget ya :D . Membeli barang yang dilihat harga dulu baru kualitas. Harga di pasaran untuk mika bervariasi antara 25-40 ribu. Sebaiknya anda memilih yang harga 40 ribu sebab jenis mikanya lebih bening dan kualitas finishing-nya lebih bagus. Kebanyakan yang berada pada kisaran harga 25 ribu berwarna kekuning-kuningan (kurang bening). Itu harga mika lokal atau import dari negara tetangga. Jika anda membeli mika import dengan lisensi Eropa atau Jepang, bisa-bisa anda harus menebus dengan angka di atas 200 ribu. Maklum kualitas kaca semacam itu harus melewati standar keselamatan yang ketat. Umumnya agar nyaman dipakai dan aman bagi mata anda. Di samping itu disertai beberapa fitur tambahan, misalnya lapisan film anti panas, anti fogging, dan anti debu.
  • Kualitas. Bukan cuma batok helmnya saja yang butuh kualitas. Mika helm pun demikian. Sebagian sudah saya jelaskan di atas. Sebagai tambahan, mika helm yang bagus harus cukup bening, namun cukup dingin pada saat siang yang terik. Pada saat cuaca mendung dan gelap pada malam hari kaca bening juga harus bisa memberi ekstra cahaya ke rentina mata anda. Jadi tidak perlu buka tutup kaca helm lagi seperti yang lazim digunakan bikers jaman dulu. Juga pilih yang mika yang rata di setiap permukaannya. Hati-hati dengan mika helm yang terkesan cembung atau tidak rata di beberapa bagian. Sebab akan membuat kepala anda pusing pada saat berkendara. Umumnya barang manufaktur, ada harga ada kualitas. Namun jika anda jeli anda pun bisa mendapat barang berkualitas. Tentu dengan harga yang masih bersahabat.

Cara Modifikasi Motor untuk Pemula

Banyak di antara kita yang suka modifikasi motor (modif), namun banyak pula yang tidak. Rata-rata yang mengaku suka malah menjadikan hobi. Bahkan banyak pula yang akhirnya jadi maniak modif. Sebaliknya, yang tidak senang modif menganggap modif berbahaya dan menimbulkan biaya lebih (boros).

Nyatanya, hampir-hampir semua motor sudah mengalami modifikasi sedikit atau banyak. Mungkin orang tidak menyadari telah melakukan modif karena tampilan motor masih standar. Padahal sejumlah item telah mengalami perubahan. Ganti busi yang lebih kuat, ganti stang yang lebih nyaman, ganti model lampu yang lebih cakep dan terang adalah modif sederhana.

Karena itu, yang penting dari modifikasi adalah tujuan dan fungsinya. Tujuan modifikasi yang baik adalah meningkatkan kinerja dan tampilan motor sehingga lebih aman, nyaman, cepat, dan gaya.

Lebih aman karena modifikasi yang baik akan menggunakan alat yang biasanya after market atau limbah copotan motor import yang kualitasnya lebih baik. Lebih cepat karena dengan modifikasi, baik kapasitas mesin bisa dimaksimalkan, atau kemampuan pengendalian (handling) lebih dioptimalkan. Nah, terutama ini: lebih gaya. Dengan modif, tampilan standar ga lagi culun. Perpaduan berbagai asesori maupun piranti body, ajrutan, cat, dsb, bisa membuat motor benar-benar menarik: lebih macho atau manis, tergantung selera.
